Himeji

I, personally, like Himeji area.
No need to mention about Himeji Castle, I prefer Himeji-Oden and famous eel.
My best eel food is the box lunch sold at a famous department store's food corner in the first basement level.
Picture is worth a thousand words. See attached pictures.

Paulownia chest

Since completion of parents' house remodeling, refuged stuff still not be replaced and Japanese style rooms are almost empty. Japanese display shelf and such kind of furnitures have been replaced in their original position, and 2 beds for parents are in one room. That's the actual progress. Mom's Paulownia chest is in the new living room but I am hanging back from replacing other wardrobes in their original positions. On the last Sunday, I had dropped by thrift shop after between dropping off and picking up my wife. buried in many wardrobes, there were two Paulownia chests stacked in two story. They seemed almost new, and were very cheap. After I picked my wife up, returned to the shop and bought them. Storage is improved by them.Next, I have remodeled Japanese closet (armoire) as wardrobe, as pictured. Inside wall was finished with plaster. I had attached hanging rails in back and front so cloths can be hanged in two layers. This is a typical measure to avoid placing Europian or American wardrobes into Japanese style rooms. It may cause inconvenience but ask parents to be patient.

Halloween decoration

I am off today to take my father to periodical medical check, and have a time to write blog.
I have decorated with Halloween stuffs this season, too. Most of the stuffs were from LA with us, but they are still in good condition because they are displayed for about one month once a year. I decorated our main house with them by last year but not this year because decoration is not suitable for main house which has been completed remodeling with typical Japanese appearance. We have candy bags even though no children would come with Trick or Treat.

Remodeling Main house completed at last

After 2 months preparation in the beginning of this year, remodeling of my main house (that is my parents’ house) started in the last March. It has been completed in the end of last month at all. But refuge furniture and stuff has not been replaced yet. When replacing them I will carefully select really necessary ones only and dispose unnecessary or unsuitable ones so that my parents can start their life in the refreshed house as soon as possible.
After completion, it is easy to distinguish refreshment around the kitchen/living, bath, toilet, and outer wall, but it seems as it was originally especially the Zashiki room (with Tatami mat) and eave, and I am very satisfied. Finally we spent more than small ready-made house with property. Now, how to pay back the debt :-p

Rainier Cherries and White Asparagus

I have visited Costco for shopping today after a long interval. I happen to see Rainier Cherries and White Asparagus were sold at fresh veggie corner. Of course, I bought both. Bing Cherries are popularly sold as American Cherries in Japan, but Rainier Cherries are sold in USA as high grade cherries and it was very delicious. It was the first time to see Rainer Cherries sold in Japan, so, of course, I bought it with delight. I hear White Asparagus is popular in Hokkaido but I have not seen it at stores in Osaka area. I bought it, too.
